Jharkhand players shine in IPL 2025 auction

Preparations for the 18th edition of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) have begun in full swing. In the recently concluded mega auction of IPL 2025 organised in Jeddah city, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and November 25, bids were also placed on players hailing from Jharkhand. Cricketers Ishan Kishan, Kumar Kushagra, Anukul Roy and Robin Minj will be showcasing their talent on the pitch in the upcoming season. As many as eight players were selected from Jharkhand for the mega auction of IPL iincluding Ishan Kishan, Virat Singh, wicketkeeper batsman Kumar Kushagra, Robin Minj, all-rounder Anukul Roy, Utkarsh Singh, fast bowler Sushant Mishra and leg spinner Ravi Yadav. But the franchise has bid on only four out of eight players. A total of which 574 players participated in the auction of which 366 were Indian and the remaining 208 were foreign players. Ishan Kishan, a popular face in the Jharkhand Ranji team, was seen playing for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. Kishan, a resident of Nawada, with a base price of Rs 2 crore, has been bought by team owner Kavya Marans for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a whopping price of Rs 11.25 crore. Wicketkeeper cum batsman Robin Minj, who hails from the City of Waterfalls Ranchi, will be seen playing for Mumbai Indians in this edition. Robins base price was Rs 30 lakh, but was eventually bought for Rs 65 lakh by team owner Akash Ambani for the MI squad. For IPL 2023, Minj was bought by Gujarat Titans for 3.6 crores, but a few days before the IPL matches began, he met with an accident while riding a bike in Ranchi due to which he could not play in the IPL. Jamshedpur boy Kumar Kushagra has been bought by Gujarat Titans this time for Rs 65 lakh as against his base price of Rs 30 lakh. In 2023, Kushagra was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 7.2 crore. Anukul Roy, originally from Bihar, plays for the Jharkhand Ranji team and this IPL he will be seen playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR has bought Roy by bidding 40 lakhs. Previously, Anukul Roy was first bought by Mumbai Indians in 2017 for Rs 20 lakhs. The tournament which is scheduled to take place from March 14, 2025 to May 25, 2025 will feature a total of ten teams competing in 74 matches.
