CMPDI should accelerate R&D spending: CIL Chairman

CMPDI, a Mini-Ratna Company, celebrated the 50th Coal India Foundation Day Celebrations with full fervour on Thursday at Rabindra Bhawan, CMPDI, Ranchi. The Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Sharad Singh Negi, Ex. IFS Officer & Chairman, Expert Appraisal Committee for Environmental Impact Assessments of thermal power and coal mining projects in his address praised the role of CMPDI in ensuring energy security of the nation and said that CMPDI should take environment issues into consideration, including environment perspectives and environment Dept. employees while preparing mine planning and designing reports.   P.M. Prasad, Chairman, CIL the guest of honour appreciated CMPDI and briefed about the achievements of Coal India Limited and CMPDI in various fields and said that CMPDI should accelerate R&D spending, should explore in critical minerals, solar sector, underground Coal gasification and Surface Coal gasification areas. Prasad further said, CMPDI is the backbone of Coal India Limited and the private sector is also looking towards CMPDI due to its expertise.   Manoj Kumar, CMD, CMPDI in his address, highlighted major achievement of CMPDI in the last one year and especially establishment of National Centre for Coal and Energy Research (NaCCER) (Phase-I) at CMPDI; Demonstration of 5G use cases at India Mobile Congress 2024 etc.   Awards in different categories were given to the employees of CMPDI for excellent performance in their respective area of operation. On this occasion, based on drill productivity (Hydroststic), Singrauli Camp, RI-VI Singrauli got the first prize and Rajnagar Camp, RI-V, Ranchi bags 2nd Prize. In Mechanical category, Gopalpur Camp, RI-VII bags first prize and Barkakana Camp, RI-III bags second prize.   For best performance in Report Preparation, awards were given GYP Reddy, General Mgr.(Mining), CMPDI, RI-IV, Nagpur for Opencast Projects Reports and S Jayakumar, Ch. Mgr.(Mining), CMPDI, RI-IV, Nagpur for Underground Project Reports; Lakshmideep G., Manager (Env.) and Amul Patwal, Dy. Manager (Env.) of RI-III, Ranchi for EIA/EMP Reports Preparation. Team of i Susobhan Kundu, General Manager (Civil); Sujib Chatterjee, General Manager (Civil) Farah Nawaz, Manager (Civil); Navin Kumar, Deputy Manager (Civil) D Uday Kumar, Asst. Manager (Civil) of CMPDI (HQ) received awards for Infrastructural Planning. Team of Trishit Ghosh, Sr. Manager, Shri Apurba Das, Manager, Subhabrata Bera, Dy. Manager, Sourav Ganguly, Dy. Manager, Noneehal P Ghatowar, Dy. Manager received the award for GR Preparation.   In Outstanding performance category, Environment Lab, RI-IV, Nagpur for Environment Lab services; Environment Dept., RI-VII, Bhubaneswar (other than EIA/EMP &Lab services) & RI-VI, Singrauli, for Geomatics services; P K Somani, RI –V, Bilaspur for Financial Services; Shri Md. Noor Uddin, Sr. Manager, Dilip Kumar Kisku, Dy. Manager, Nitish Kumar, Dy. Manager Exploration Services other than drilling & GR including Geo-physical & Hydrogeology. OC Division, HQ and Geomatics Division, HQ bags for outside consultancy jobs in 2023-24   Awards for Innovation for 5G Technology Rollout to Dr. Tarique Sajjad, GM (ME); Sri Dhiraj Kumar, GM(Mining) /TS, CMPDI Hq; J. Tiwary, CM(E&T), TE HQ, Ranchi; and for Software Development to Dr Thinesh Kumar   Under CSR, CMPDI(HQ) got the award for maximum utilization of CSR Budget in 2023-24 and Regional Institute-VII, Bhubaneswar got the award for growth in expenditure in amongst all the RIs in the FY 2023-24.   On this occasion, Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL; Mahipal Singh, Chief Engineer (TPPD)-Cum-Member Secretary of Central Electricity Authority; Shankar Nagachari, Director (T/CRD); Ajay Kumar, Director (P&D); Satish Jha, Director (T/ES); Achyut Ghatak (T/RD&T); Sumeet Kumar Sinha, CVO, CMPDI; Ex CMDs, Ex-Directors, Ex-GMs of CMPDI, CIL & its subsidiaries, All Regional Directors; GMs/HoDs, representatives of CMOAI were also present.
