Woman kills 2-yr-old daughter for practising black magic

In a deeply disturbing incident, a two-year-old girl named Pari was brutally killed by her own mother in Jharkhands Palamu district, allegedly as part of a black magic ritual. The shocking crime took place in Kharad village under the Hussainabad block and has left the entire community in disbelief.    The accused, Geeta Devi, reportedly lured her daughter to an isolated area near the Sikni Barwadhoda forest, about two kilometers from their home. Police reports state that the woman, deeply influenced by superstitious beliefs, sacrificed her child in the belief that it would help her attain supernatural powers.    According to sources, Geeta took the toddler to the deserted spot carrying ritualistic items such as bangles, clothes, and other materials. At the site, she reportedly undressed both herself and her daughter and began performing rituals. Witnesses stated that she danced frantically during the ceremony before committing the gruesome act.    Using a knife, Geeta slit the girls throat, dismembered her body, and extracted her heart, which she is said to have consumed as part of the ritual. She then buried the remains of her daughter in the soil before returning home naked, further alarming locals and relatives.    Upon her arrival, Geetas mother-in-law, Kaushalya Devi, noticed her unusual condition and questioned her about the child. To the familys horror, Geeta confessed to killing Pari. Kaushalya immediately informed the villagers, who contacted the police.    Police arrived promptly at the scene and arrested Geeta. During the investigation, police recovered the childs mutilated remains and other ritualistic items from the site. Geeta reportedly admitted to her crime, explaining that she was learning black magic and had been guided by a dream to sacrifice either her husband or her child to gain supernatural powers.    Geetas husband, who works in Delhi, was not present at the time of the incident. Neighbours and relatives described her as a quiet individual but noted her increasing interest in superstitious practices in recent months. Police believe that Geeta may have suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by her involvement in black magic rituals.    The local community has been left shaken by the barbaric nature of the crime. Authorities are working to determine whether anyone else influenced or encouraged Geetas actions.    The police have urged the public to remain vigilant against such superstitions and seek help when dealing with mental health or spiritual crises. The case has sparked widespread outrage and discussions about the need for stricter measures to curb superstition-driven crimes.
