Rs 1.14 crore cash recovered from city based school

Ranchi police carried out a search at GD Goenka School in the city on Wednesday, where they uncovered Rs 1.14 crore in cash. The flying squad seized the money along with three bottles of illegal foreign liquor from a cupboard belonging to the schools Deputy Principal. Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha stated that the operation thwarted an attempt to use the money to influence votes in Ranchi. Both SSP Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Varun Ranjan shared details during a joint press conference. Police also discovered two suspicious mobile phones at the scene. A case has been registered at the Namkum police station, although no arrests have been made so far. SSP Sinha mentioned that the seized cash could have been used to manipulate the upcoming assembly elections. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the money ended up at the school. The cash was confiscated in the presence of the school operator, Madan Singh. Meanwhile, Jharkhands Chief Electoral Officer, K Ravi Kumar, reported that 22 FIRs have been filed so far for violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Since the code came into effect, authorities have seized illegal goods and cash worth Rs 121.14 crore, with the majority of seizures conducted by the state police. Among the districts with the highest recoveries, Khunti tops the list with Rs 3.03 crore, followed by Giridih with Rs 2.80 crore, and East Singhbhum with Rs 1.97 crore.
