CEO cautions officers against any issue in maintaining law and order

Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar today said that the Model Code of Conduct is in force in the Assembly Elections 2024. During this, all Senior Superintendents of Police / Superintendents of Police should ensure the execution of all bailable and non-bailable warrant proclamation and attachment pending in their jurisdiction. He was holding a review meeting with the District Election Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police / Superintendent of Police of all the districts through online medium in the Election House on Friday. On this occasion, the CEO said that in the past too, such unfortunate information has come to light many times that during the elections, people were involved in violence and crime, against whom bailable and non-bailable warrants and attachment proceedings were pending. Apart from this, the officers should also verify the pending cases related to warrants and attachment of the candidates, their proposers and supporters of their areas, so that they cannot exert any influence during nomination or election campaign. He directed all the officers not to show any laxity in executing even a single bailable and non-bailable warrant and attachment in their jurisdiction. Otherwise, the responsibility of any unfortunate situation arising due to any kind of laxity will be yours. On this occasion, he directed to prepare an action plan for the appointment of security forces by doing vulnerable mapping in all the districts and provide the list. Kumar said that no laxity should be shown in maintaining the Model Code of Conduct. Conduct intensive checking at all checkposts in the state, take strict action against illegal mining, illegal money transactions, illegal liquor and banned intoxicants. On this occasion, State Police Nodal Officer AV Homkar said that all the Superintendents of Police of the districts should run special campaigns in their areas and execute all bailable and non-bailable warrant proclamations and attachment and submit the report. He said that along with the accused of bailable and non-bailable warrants, the process of depositing licensed weapons should also be completed as per rules. He said that keep an eye on social media as well and ensure its execution by taking prompt action on the cases of violation of the Model Code of Conduct related to it. On this occasion, State CRPF Nodal Officer Saket Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora, DIG Dhananjay Kumar Singh, DIG Indrajit Mahatha, DIG Ashwini Kumar Sinha along with Chief Electoral Officer and Police officials were present. Meanwhile, in another meeting with enforcement agencies Kumar said that in attempts can be made to lure voters not only with cash but also with the lure of other goods. All enforcement agencies should coordinate and take prompt action on all these activities. Everyone will have to make a joint effort to provide equal opportunity to all candidates and to conduct clean, fair and peaceful voting in the state. The CEO said that RBI officials should keep an eye on all suspicious transactions and bulk transactions. Share the information of any suspicious transaction with the headquarters and seize the bank account. He directed the officials of Traffic, Forest Department, Airport Authority, Prohibition Department, ED, Customs Department, Income Tax Department etc. to work diligently during the elections and completely stop illegal activities. The CEO said that in rural areas, many candidates distribute many types of items to lure voters, keep a close watch on this. There is a possibility of movement of illegal liquor, drugs etc. in the border areas. To keep an eye on the movement of all these illegal materials, CCTV surveillance is to be maintained at the check posts constructed in all the border states and districts, which is being monitored through webcasting from the district headquarters and the state level.
