Jharcraft Handloom and Handicraft Expo inaugurated in Chennai

Jitendra Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Industries, Jharkhand said that Jharkhand is a stronghold of handicraftsmen and Jharcraft is making efforts to give a place to the artists and heritage of its rich culture. Singh was speaking at the inaugural session of Jharcraft Handloom and Handicraft Expo in Chennai. In this expo, which will run from September 14 to September 16, stalls related to handicrafts and artifacts of Jharkhand have been set up, as well as stalls related to handicrafts and art culture of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. Addressing the inaugural program, the Industry Secretary said that Jharcraft is the industry partner of the Jharkhand government. Our aim is to give a new identity to the products of Jharcraft and to connect this link, we are organizing the expo for the second time in Chennai. He said that Tussar Silk and Dokra Art are famous in Jharkhand. Singh said that when Jharkhand was separated from Bihar, the objective was to give an identity to the products of Jharkhand. "For this, the need for a platform was felt so that the skills of Jharkhand could get an identity. Through Jhatcraft, we have been providing a market for such a platform along with branding the products related to the culture and tribal traditions there. An attempt has been made to provide a platform to the products of Jharcraft through similar expos in many states. Of course silk clothes may be made in Bhagalpur but Jharkhand produces 75 percent of silk," he said. Addressing the program, Jharcraft Managing Director Kirti Shri ji said that we are happy that Jharcraft expo is being held in Chennai. "Jharcraft was formed in 2006. With its formation, there was a challenge to provide a platform to the skills of the state. Efforts were made to inculcate the traditions of the tribals in their lives and today the products of Jharcraft have become a part of the global market. A large population of women of the state is associated with handloom and handicraft products," he said. Kirti Shri said that in the expo, the people of Chennai will be able to know the handicrafts of Jharkhand and will be able to get acquainted with its high quality as well as the culture of Jharkhand. Jharcraft Ranchi, Kendua PWCS Mahgaon, Chaman SHG Godda, Jiajori SHG Godda, Barkatthi PWCS Ramgarh, Pokharikalan PWCS Latehar, Rural Youth Weavers SHG Godda, Youth Rural Development SHG Bhagaiya, Sapna Silk Jharkhand, Youth Rural Development SHG Manikpur, Dhokra Jharkhand, Sukhdev Mahali Seraikela, Om Creation Jharkhand, Md. Irfan Alam Ranchi, Meghnath Mahto Kharsawan, Sikni PWCS Ramgarh, Naresh Kumar Vishwakarma Bokaro, Upper Corner Chameli SHG Ranchi, CEDAR Dumka, Jharkhand State Khari and Development Board, Sajwa Devi Hazaribagh, ADIVA( Living with Tradition) Jharkhand, Shashikant Bokaro, Lacquer Handicraft Self-reliant Cooperative Society Ranchi, Tribes India, Tourism Department, Government of Jharkhand. Stalls of Shivappaya Textiles, Aroma SHG West Bengal, Cotton Durrai Uttar Pradesh, Punjab Kurti Set Uttar Pradesh, Kids Chennai, Jaipur Jewellery Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh Tussar Party Silk have also been set up. Additional Director Industry Department Pankaj Kumar Sao, Prof. V Parmanand, Knowledge Partner GT Bharat. Rishu Ravi, Director, GT Bharat and many other officials were present in the program.
