For the next few days, a forecast for heavy to very heavy rain at some places till September 15 has been issued for Jharkhand by the weather department. For September 13 the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi has issued a yellow alert signifying heavy rain for the north eastern parts of the State including the districts of Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, Sabihganj, Dhabad and Giridih.  The weathermen have issued both a yellow and an orange alert for September 14 stating chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Jharkhand. While heavy rain is being predicted for the northern parts, heavy to very heavy showers are expected in the north- central parts of Jharkhand. For September 14, an orange alert has been issued for Chatra, Hazaribagh, Koderma, and Ramgarh whereas the yellow alert is for the districts of Lohardaga, Latehar, Ranchi, Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Dumka and Jamtara For September 15, heavy showers are expected for north- central parts and adjoining areas including Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ranchi and Ramgarh districts. The bulletin also states a possibility of thunderstorm and lighting activity at some places. The Meteorological Centre has stated that a cyclonic circulation present over central parts of Myanmar is likely to move west- northwest and move over coastal Bangladesh and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal in the next two days due to which heavy to very heavy showers are expected in Jharkhand. From June 1 to September 11, Jharkhand has received a cumulative rainfall of 760.1 mm as against the normal amount of 890.6 mm. As per the data shared by the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, the rainfall deficit across the State is at -15 percent and as of now, the rainfall recorded in Jharkhand this monsoon is in the normal range of +19% to -19%. However, it is still below the exact normal required. The State capital has witnessed 928.1 mm of rainfall while the required amount is considered to be 910.1 mm. Rainfall in Ranchi has been observed in the normal range at 2 percent. The maximum rainfall has been recorded in Dhanbad at 14 percent. Rainfall realised here is 1055.2 mm as against the required amount of 922.1 mm. However, maximum deficit has been observed in Pakur at -56 percent with only 437.9 mm of rainfall realised as against the required amount of 997.7 mm. This is followed by Lohardaga with 547.3 mm of rainfall received against the normal amount of 861.4 mm with a deficit of 36 percent.
