61,15,703 children to receive polio drops on Aug 25 in State

While presiding over the task force meeting organised for the eradication of pulse polio in the Development Commissioner Auditorium located at Nepal House on Wednesday, Principal Secretary of Health Department Ajay Kumar Singh said that polio has not ended yet and we need to be alert till it has been eradicated from the whole world. On August 25, as many as 61,15,703 children between the age group of 0-5 years will be administered pulse polio medicine across all the districts of the State and for this 24,463 booths have been set up. In this campaign, the team of the Health Department will also go door-to-door on August 26 and 27 to administer the medicine to the children deprived of polio dose. The Principal Secretary directed to hold convergence meetings at the district and block level to review the logistics and microplan. Directives to form a team at the State level and conduct collaborative supervision of the districts and blocks were also issued. The official also directed to conduct a review of the campaign in the districts that were left out and also to review the preparations once again in districts such as Bokaro, Palamu and Latehar. Kumar also directed 100% participation of all the employees of the Women and Child Development Department while the Education Department has been instructed to organise school activities for the success of the campaign and Prabhat Ferry for awareness. The Panchayati Raj Department has been directed to organise inaugural sessions in all panchayats to ensure the participation of villagers whereas the Information and Public Relations Department has been directed to promote this campaign as much as possible. Director-in-Chief Dr. Chandrakishore Shahi, State Cell In-charge of Routine Immunization Dr. Virendra Prasad Singh, State Nodal Officer of IEC Dr. Lal Majhi, State Coordinator of National Health Mission Akay Minj, State Representative of World Health Organization Dr. Amarendra, Dr. Pradeep Singh from IMA along with officials and representatives of Energy, Forest Environment and Climate Change, Home Prison and Disaster Management, Panchayati Raj, Women and Child Development, Transport, Mines, Urban Development and Housing, School Education, Rural Development, Police, Social Welfare, WHO, UNDP, UNICEF, Rotary and other departments were present in the meeting.
