Despite HC order Ratan Heights residents still spending sleepless nights

Despite the Jharkhand High Court order in their favour and continuously seeking help from Government, Municipal Corporation and local administration the woes of residents are increasing manifolds. They are living in complete danger and the apartment can decimate any time. The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the construction of a new apartment, which was started in November, 22 adjacent to Ratan Heights in Morhabadi under the Bariatu police station area in the heart of the State Capital. The bench of Justice Rajesh Shanker had directed after Ratan Heights Building Society knocked on its door for justice saying after the construction work started the life of their building had come in danger. Now the pit area has increased and the construction work is going on. Apart from staying the work the court had directed the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner to file an affidavit in the matter within three weeks. The society through their petition said the court that after builder VKS Reality dug a 35 feet pit adjacent to the land of their apartment on Morabadi-Boedya Road, the entrance wall suddenly collapsed and a car parked there fell into a 35 feet pit on January 23. Advocate Indrajit Sinha had represented the society in the High Court. Around 48 flat owners of Ratan Height apartment, who were having sleepless nights due to the construction of a multi-storey apartment adjacent to their apartment, heaved a sigh of relief after the direction but now they still in danger because the construction work not stopped. The resident also organised a press conference to share their problem on January 4 with the media. During the press conference, they said that despite direction by civic authorities, construction work was going on and they were fearful. Talking to The Pioneer on phone Ratan Heights Resident, Ajay Kumar said the owner of the land Jay Parmal is completely responsible for all this issue. But the irony is that the Government is not taking cognizance of the issue. The court had sent notice to fill the pit but they are not filling it and the apartment may collapse any time, he added.
