MH Ramachandra Rao to be Jharkhand HCs next Chief Justice

The new Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court (HC) will be Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice MH Ramachandra Rao. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Collegium chaired by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The current Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi is retiring on July 20. The future Chief Justice of Jharkhand HC MH Ramachandra Rao is currently the Chief Justice of Himachal HC. Justice Ramachandra Rao was born on August 7, 1966 in Hyderabad. He enrolled as an Advocate on December 7, 1989. He was a student of Cambridge University in 1991. Ramachandra Rao, an alumnus of Cambridge University of the year 1991 batch, has also been awarded the Cambridge Commonwealth Scholarship, Bank of Credit and Commerce International Scholarship and Pegasus Scholarship from the Scholarship Trust of the Inner Temple for his Masters course. Justice Ramachandra Rao has been counsel for IRDA, SBI, State of Hyderabad, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited among other enterprises. Justice Ramachandra Rao was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on June 29, 2012. After the bifurcation of the State of Andhra Pradesh, he chose Telangana as his parent High Court. He was transferred as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 12, 2021. Presently Justice MH Ramachandra Rao is the Chief Justice of Himachal High Court.
