BAU distributes improved variety paddy seeds among farmers

Under the Tribal Sub Plan of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Rice, which is being run in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research at Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), farmers were given information about advanced cultivation of paddy. In the program, seeds of the improved variety of paddy CR Dhan 320 for 50 acres were distributed among 63 farmers from Ranchi, Khunti and Gumla districts. Chief Investigator of All India Coordinated Research Project (Rice) and Assistant Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding Department, Dr Nutan Verma said that CR Dhan 320 is suitable for the medium land of Jharkhand. It ripens in 120 days. Its grains are long and thin, whose yield capacity is about 50 quintals per hectare, she added. BAU Research Director Dr. PK Singh, Project Scientist Dr. Akhlaq Ahmed, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh and Dr. Supriya Supal Surin were present on the occasion.
