The Jharkhand High Court will hear the regular bail plea of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday. Soren filed a regular bail petition in the High Court through his advocate on Monday. Soren had requested the court to hear his petition early. His advocate made this request to the High Court through a mention memo, which was accepted by the court. Sorens petition has been listed in the court of High Court judge Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay. Notably, Soren had withdrawn his interim bail petition from the Supreme Court, after the court refused to entertain his plea citing that the lower court has taken cognisance of the matter and the Apex court cannot hold parallel hearing. Earlier, Soren had requested the civil court to grant him bail, but his petition was rejected. After this Hemant Soren reached Jharkhand High Court and said that the arrest made by ED is illegal. Jharkhand High Court had reserved the decision after hearing the case. Meanwhile, Hemant Soren reached the Supreme Court and requested for interim bail. After hearing the arguments of Hemant Sorens lawyer and EDs lawyer, the Supreme Court expressed displeasure that the petitioner had hidden the facts related to the case. The SC said that it would dismiss the petition. On this, Hemants Advocate Kapil Sibal accepted his mistake and withdrew the petition. Notably, Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 this year after a long questioning by the agency. Soren had resigned from the post of chief minister before his arrest. The former Jharkhand Chief Minister has been accused in a land scam case of a posh land in the capital city, which the ED has alleged Soren had occupied by misusing his powers. The ED has alleged that Soren along with several others was involved in a land scam for grabbing land illegally in Ranchi. ED has also filed a charge sheet in the case and has arrested several people including government servants. Former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan is also in judicial custody in the land scam case.
