Nomination for 4 Lok Sabha constituencies begins today

  • | Thursday | 18th April, 2024

Nominations for four Lok Sabha constituencies namely Palamu, Khunti, Lohardaga and Singhbhum are to start from Thursday April 18. It will conclude on April 25.   Sources said candidates like that of the BJP and RJD Vishnu Dayal Ram and Mamta Bhuiyan respectively are said to be filing their nominations on April 24 one day ahead of the nomination closes down on April 25.   Sentiments and currents beneath the coming voting which is May 13 here become too manifest in the nomination itself if it is impartially and professionally analyzed.    Since Palamu lok sabha seat is SC reserved constituency hence fee for the nomination is half of what it is for the general seat.    Its 12,500 rupees for the SC - ST seat while it is 25, 000 rupees for the general seat.   Again a candidate is mandated to furnish caste certificate in favour of his or her being an SC or ST.    There is some elbow room given to the candidates.    It is that a candidate has time to submit his caste certificate till the last day and before the expiry of the nomination filing time which is 3pm.    Again a candidate is at liberty to file a maximum of 4 sets of nomination papers with fee remaining static at Rs 12, 500.    ECI has declared 6 national parties like BJP, Congress, BSP, CPI Marxist, Aam Admi Party and National Peoples Party.    Again in Jharkhand the ECI has declared 3 state parties as recognised. These are JMM, AJSU and RJD.    Thus as per the ECI these 9 parties if they field candidates will make do with just 1 proposer.    The proposer has to be an elector of the same Lok Sabha constituency.    This binding is not on the candidates. Candidate may be an elector of any constituency of which he or she has to produce certification for his her electoral registration.
