Aditya Bhura and Drishti Banerjee from Amity University, Kolkata, lifted the HNLU-NHRC Moot court trophy in a keenly contested competition with 20 moot teams participating from all over the country. The moot court was jointly organised by Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The winning team also received a prize money of Rs 50,000. The Chanakya National Law University, Patna, team of Ojal Maurya, Ananya Giri and Apoorva Singh were declared runners up with a prize money of Rs 30,000. The HNLU- NHRC moot sponsored by NHRC with a budget of Rs 10 lakhs saw 20 teams competing in the two-day event with 45 judges of oral rounds congregating at HNLU. Prof Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU, underlined the issues of tribal rights which was the moot problem and drew an analogy through the message of Chief Seattle, the Red Indian chiefs letter to the US President in 1854. He stated that apart from the formality of a competition, the moot has sensitized the future lawyers on the conflict of aspiration of uniformity versus diversity and the attendant legal jurisprudence. Justice G. Raghuram, the chief guest, observed that law making and its operations were complex and moot exercises such as these will train and sensitize the future lawyers to understand the nuances involved. The moot also witnessed Aditya Bhurra from Amity University, Kolkata, and Ojal Maurya from Chanakya National Law University, Patna, judged as the best speakers, and Keertana Bashishta from University School of Legal Studies as the Best Researcher.
