Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Arun Sao on Tuesday announced a probe into alleged irregularities in Jal Jeevan mission works. The issue was raised in the Assembly by BJP legislators Dharamlal Kaushik and Dharamjeet Singh. Kaushik alleged that there were major irregularities in the Mission and only 10 percent of works had been completed in his Assembly segment Bilha.  Singh said that ineligible persons were allotted the contract for the work by the previous government and he demanded a review after ordering a probe. Congress MLA Sangeeta Sinha also complained of incomplete work and said that work was in slow progress in her Assembly segment Balod. The Minister agreed to order a probe into the alleged irregularities. He said that registrations of 79 firms out of 883 were cancelled after complaints of irregularities. Recently, nine PHE officials and employees were suspended for laxity in the Jal Jeevan work, he added. Earlier, noisy scenes were witnessed in the House over ready-to-eat works at the Anganwadi centres across the state. Dissatisfied with the answer of Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Rajwade, the opposition members staged a walkout. During discussion on a call attention motion moved by BJP member and former Minister Rajesh Munat, Sports Minister Tankram Verma announced a probe into the purchase of caps and T-shirts by his department. Munat charged that the purchase was done without inviting tender.
