  • | Friday | 12th July, 2024

Ahead of a mega plantation drive on July 11, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday called upon people to contribute to the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign to improve the green cover in the state. He has also called for raising awareness about environmental protection by taking part in the profile picture frame initiative. People have been asked to take a photo while planting a sapling and post it on social media using the campaigns frame. The main objective is to maintain environmental balance. The Forest Department will plant 3.85 crore saplings in forest and non-forest areas. Sai wants plantation sites named after local deities. Programmes will be organised in all districts at village and panchayat levels. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this drive on World Environment Day on June 5. Under this campaign, it is proposed to plant 80 crore trees across the country by September 2024 and 140 crore trees by March 2025.
