Five slain Maoists with Rs 40L bounty identified

Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday identified five slain Maoists, carrying a cumulative reward of Rs 40 lakhs on their heads, killed in a 48-hour gunfight on Tuesday in Narayanpur district. The six are Rakesh, Konda Togda, Edma Vadde, Kamlu Vadde and Farsa Tumda, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said. All of them were the Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Company Number 1 Central Committee protection team members in the Maad Divisions Kutul Area Committee of the outlawed Maoist organization. They carried a bounty of Rs 8 lakhs each on their heads. The operation was launched on June 30 based on information about the presence of senior Maoists in the forests of Hikulnar, Ghamandi, Jatwar and nearby villages in the district. The District Reserve Guard and STF, both units of the state police, along with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Border Security Force were involved in the operation. A .303 rifle, three .315 bore rifles, two muzzle-loading guns, a barrel grenade launcher (BGL), six BGL shells and other weapons were seized from the battle site.
