240 new cases take dengue tally to 2,035

PATNA: The State on Saturday registered 240 dengue cases, taking the tally this year to 2035. The maximum 63 cases were reported from Patna.As per the data shared by the health department, Bhagalpur had the second highest single-day 24 cases, followed by Begusarai (21), Munger (13) and Aurangabad (9). The state recorded rise in cases after a slight dip on Friday. For instance, 213 cases were reported on Friday and 196 patients were undergoing treatment at different government hospitals. On Saturday, the daily caseload increased to 240 and 204 patients were undergoing treatment.Meanwhile, the state government on Saturday uploaded the names of the government hospitals from where platelets could be procured. On Friday, 30 patients were being treated at three private hospitals and 48 in four government hospitals. The hospitals are anticipating a rise in the number of dengue patients in October. In total, there were 213 new dengue cases recorded in the state on Friday, bringing the tally to 1,795. Most of the cases, nearly 83%, have been registered in September alone. The worst affected areas are those falling under the Patna Municipal Corporation. The district administration has set up a 24x7 dengue control room to provide assistance and information related to the disease. Officials have been urged to remain alert as the festive season approaches and people from other states with high dengue cases are expected to visit Bihar.
