PATNA: Unidentified armed criminals shot dead a Patna high court lawyer near Bihar Rajya Jal Parshad office at Punaichak under Shashtri Nagar police station area on Wednesday.Jitendra Kumar Singh (52), the deceased, was on his way to pick one of his colleague at Punaichak for high court when the incident took place.Shashtri Nagar police station SHO Nehar Bhushan said the laywer’s elder brother Raj Kumar had made nine persons named accused in an FIR lodged in connection with the killing. The elder brother is a homeopathic doctor with a clinic at Akashwani Road in Khajpura locality.“Advocate’s wife Neetu Singh, brother-in-law Pansujit Kumar alias Mithu, father-in-law Krishna Singh, mother-in-law Laxmi Devi, Rakesh Kumar alias Bablu, Rupesh Kumar and his wife Supriya Devi, Ritesh Kumar and one more person are the named accused in the FIR,” Bhushan said.He said Jitendra had matrimonial dispute with his wife and were living separately since 2007. He said that wife and all in-laws live at Banaras Bank Chowk in Muzaffarpur town.Bhushan said that Jitendra’s brother suspected that he was killed due to dispute over one bigha land at Motichak under Khagaul police station area with his brother-in-law.“The killing came to light after locals informed police that an injured person was lying in a pool of blood on road,” he said.The SHO said Jitendra was rushed to a nearby government hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.Jitendra’s elder brother told TOI that they used to live together in a rented flat at Guru Sahay enclave at Magistrate colony in city.“On Wednesday, my brother first reached at my clinic along with me as usual and left for high court after which the incident took place. After receiving information, I reached hospital but till then he had died,” the homeopathic doctor said.“Recently we came to know that Jitendra’s brother-in-law by forging documents had created a power of attorney for land at Khagaul and sold it to Mohammad Tazuddin of Gardanibagh. I strongly believe that his wife, in-laws and other killed him to grab the land,” the homeopath said.Meanwhile, SHO Bhushan said none saw the killing took place. He said the advocate was shot one on back of his right shoulder and one pellet was retrieved from body during post mortem at IGIMS.
