According to the officials, the project will pave the way to synchronise traffic signals in such a way that a motorist can pass through an entire stretch without having to stop at any of the signals. The system will work on cloud-sourced data through Google maps, which show real-time queue lengths of vehicles at designated intersections.“Given the city’s increasing traffic snarls, we have signed MoUs with Junckit Systems Pty Ltd and Seaview Developers Pvt Ltd in order to utilise the latest technology of adaptive traffic signals to make Noida a congestion-free city, especially at busy intersections during peak hours,” Rajeev Tyagi, GM (projects) of Noida Authority, told TOI on Wednesday.Prof Vinayak Dixit of University of New South Wales, the man who developed the adaptive traffic signal system software and implemented it first in Thane, is confident about its success in the city.“Our research demonstrated that the evening peak traffic was removed on certain sections of the networks, with overall 30% reduction in congestion and similar improvements in vehicular emissions.
