Nashik: A delegation of Shiv Sena (UBT) functionaries from Nashik met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar on Monday, and requested him to let their party contest the Nashik Lok Sabha seat.We met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and requested him to allow the Shiv Sena (UBT) to contest the seat. He asked our party unit to start preparing for the contest from Nashik constituency, UBT functionary Sunil Bagul claimed.The Shiv Sena (UBT), the NCPs Sharad Pawar faction and the Congress are part of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and the parties are currently holding seat-sharing talks.Moreover, the INDIA bloc is also being formed and it may constitute many other parties.Hemant Godse had contested the Nashik Lok Sabha seat on an undivided Shiv Sena ticket and won the last two terms. On both occasions, Godse had defeated the NCP candidates. However, now, following the splits in Shiv Sena and NCP, voters are curious to know which parties from either group — the MVA and the BJP-lead Mahayuti — would contest the seat.While speaking to TOI, Bagul said the delegation, comprising other prominent leaders, impressed upon Sharad Pawar that they were in a better shape to take on Godse.People in the constituency had voted for the undivided Shiv Sena that was led by Uddhav Thackeray.
