Rajendra Shinde is now St Xavier's College new principal

Rajendra Shinde will be replacing Agnelo Meneze, who was appointed as principal in 2015, and was the first non-Jesuit principal of the college. Apart from encouraging youngsters to take up research, one of the most important agenda of the 24th principal of St Xavier’s College, Rajendra Shinde is to establish a hostel for girls in the campus. Shinde, who is the head of the Botany department, will be first non-Christian principal of the most popular south Mumbai college. While speaking with DNA, Shinde said, “I have butterflies in my stomach knowing that I will be taking charge as principal of the college. We have a very young faculty on the campus and we would like to motivate them for research. We will also start a Collaborative Undergraduate Biology Education (CUBE) in our college to promote research culture among students. Project based learning will be strengthened.
