The Yogi Adityanath government is making continuous efforts to empower women victims of heinous crimes and provide quick justice and support in cases of violence against women. Acting on the chief ministers instructions, orders have been issued to resolve pending compensation cases for such victims without delay. This initiative is part of the states Rani Lakshmibai Mahila Samman Kosh Yojana, under which Rs 50 crore has been approved for the financial year 2024-25. The scheme, run under the Women Welfare department, aims to offer financial support to women affected by violence and their families. The goal is to help these women overcome challenges, return to normal life and actively contribute to society. The scheme supporting women victims of nine types of heinous crimes in Uttar Pradesh is working effectively, but official data reveals delays in many cases. Currently, 701 cases are pending at the police nodal officer level, 7,583 at the nodal medical officer, and 8,893 at the district steering committee levels, totaling 17,177 unresolved cases. The Yogi government has directed that all these pending cases be resolved by the end of this month to provide relief to the victims. Following the instructions, the district steering committee constituted under the chairmanship of the district magistrate, will settle these cases on priority basis. Under Chief Minister Yogis leadership, revolutionary changes have been introduced in women welfare schemes. Through the Rani Lakshmibai Mahila Samman Kosh, women victims of heinous crimes receive financial assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This support helps in medical treatment, rehabilitation, education for children, and daily living expenses. The chief minister has emphasised transparency and timely action in implementing the scheme. The government has not only increased the budget for the initiative but also encouraged public contributions to the fund. Donors contributing to the fund are eligible for tax exemptions under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Notably, the state government has established a robust framework to provide financial and social support to women victims of heinous crimes such as acid attacks, rape and domestic violence. Under this initiative, immediate financial assistance is offered to victims, along with funds for their medical treatment and rehabilitation. Additionally, the scheme covers the education and livelihood needs of their children, aiming to help victims rebuild their lives with dignity. Through these efforts, thousands of women affected by violence have received not only financial aid but also emotional and social empowerment. Survivors of acid attacks and rape are now reclaiming their identity and finding a new place in society. The approval process for availing benefits involves district-level steering committees led by the district magistrate. Once approved, the financial assistance is promptly transferred to the victims bank account in a transparent manner. However, the Mahila Samman Kosh goes beyond monetary aid by encouraging victims to reintegrate into the mainstream and actively participate in all areas of society.
