Woman poisons husband after fasting for his long life on Karwa Chauth

  Hours after ending the Karwa Chauth fast after praying for the long life of her husband, a woman allegedly killed him by poisoning him. Officials of Kada Dham police station in Kaushambi district said Shailesh Kumar, 32, was poisoned by his wife, Savita, because she suspected that he was having an affair with another woman. They said Savita had kept a fast on Karwa Chauth to pray for Shaileshs long life on Sunday and he had also been busy making arrangements for it since morning. When Savita was breaking her fast in the evening, she had an argument with Shailesh but things seemed to return to normal soon after. The couple ate together, after which Savita asked Shailesh to go to a neighbours house to get something and then fled. Shaileshs brother Akhilesh said Shailesh was rushed to a hospital, where he recorded a video declaration, stating that Savita had poisoned his food. He died during treatment. Savita has been arrested. Kaushambis Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava said, The crime was reported from Ismailpur village. The woman allegedly poisoned her husband after they had a fight. The man died during treatment. A case has been registered, the woman has been arrested and the body has been sent for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, a six-year-old boy was strangled to death, allegedly by his grandfather, in Lalitpur district as he was unhappy with his sons second marriage, police said on Monday. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mushtaq said that they received a report late on Sunday about the suspicious death of a child in Gidvar village of Pura Kalan area. Upon reaching the spot, police found that the child had been strangled to death with a rope, he said. . Further investigation revealed that the accused, Pritam (56), was unhappy with his sons marriage to a woman who had a child from her previous relationship, Mushtaq said. The SP said the accused was unhappy with the child also and in a fit of anger, he strangled him to death on Sunday night. The accused was arrested and the rope used in the crime was recovered. The body was sent for post-mortem and further legal action was being taken.
