As part of its ongoing efforts to empower women and promote self-reliance, the Uttar Pradesh government recently appointed female students as district magistrates (DMs), superintendents of police (SPs), and other key administrative roles for a day. This initiative, launched during the Sharadiya Navratri celebrations under Mission Shakti, provided students with firsthand experience of these responsibilities and a platform to showcase their leadership skills. In over a dozen districts, young women were appointed as DM, CDO, SDM, and SP for the day, boosting their confidence while actively addressing public grievances. Participants expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, noting the initiatives positive impact on their confidence and commitment to pursuing administrative careers in the future. In Lakhimpur Kheri, DM Durga Shakti Nagpal said Agrima Dhawan, a Class VIII student from a freedom fighters family, who assumed the DM role. During a public hearing, she instructed officials to regulate vegetable prices. Across the district, young women symbolically served as SDMs: Bhavya Singh in Lakhimpur, Smriti Singh in Gola, Nidhi Gupta in Palia, Ananya Rastogi in Dhaurahra, Anushka Patel in Nighasan, Nandini Gupta in Mohammadi, and Khushboo Rathore in Mitauli. In Jaunpur, DM Dinesh Chandra Singh appointed Sajal Gupta, the districts top Inter student, who addressed 87 cases and resolved 14. Similarly, Mirzapur DM Priyanka Niranjan appointed Shivanshi Dwivedi as DM and Lakshmi Ratan Maurya as CDO for the day. The young leaders emphasised prioritising womens issues and ensuring prompt resolutions. Ghazipur DM Aryaka Akhouri noted that Priyanka Kushwaha, an exceptional High School student, attended the Janata Darshan to address grievances and issue directives for swift action. In Shamli, DM Arvind Chauhan stated that Akanksha, the districts Intermediate topper, listened to complaints during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas and directed resolutions. Sitapur DM Abhishek Anand appointed Arpita Singh as DM, Pratiksha Singh as SP, and Sandhya Mishra as CDO for a day. They conducted public hearings and resolved various issues. In Maharajganj, DM Anunay Jha said that Nidhi Yadav, the districts top high school student, served as DM, addressing eight complaints and reviewing compensation cases. Maharajganj SP Somendra Meena appointed Goldie as SP for a day, who handled five complaints and resolved two immediately, emphasising cases involving women and inspecting the One Stop Centre. Shravasti DM Ajay Kumar Dwivedi mentioned that Rashmi Kasaudhan, a Class XII student, was appointed DM for a day, with Prachi Tiwari as ADM and Reena as SDM. Rashmi signed official documents and addressed grievances during Janata Darshan. SP Ghanshyam Chaurasia said that Sarita Kumari, a Class XI student, served as SP, leading to prompt action on a case. In Lalitpur, DM Akshay Tripathi stated that Shivani Rajput, a Class IX student, was appointed DM, with young women designated as SDMs. They resolved 114 cases, with 27 resolved on the spot. Jhansi DM Avinash Kumar appointed student Aditi Sahu as DM, while in Rampur, DM Joginder Singh assigned the role to Kamini Gangwar, a meritorious Class X student, who conducted public hearings and monitored development progress. Kasganj DM Medha Rupam noted that under Mission Shakti, Bhumika, the districts topper, addressed public grievances during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas in the Kasganj tehsil. 1,100 Council school girls honoured   The Kanya Pujan Shakti Vandan ceremony took place in Lakhimpur Kheri, where 1,100 girls from council schools were honoured. Each received a gift bag containing a tiffin, bottle, steel plate, wall clock, and an anaemia chart. Additionally, the Annaprashan ceremony was conducted for 11 infants, who were fed kheer, and provided with warm clothing and hygiene kits. DM Shakti Nagpal said that girls need opportunities, not assistance. Similarly, the Shakti Sarathi programme was held in Gonda, where 1,000 pink e-rickshaws were launched, with over 90% of them intended for use by women. During the event, 108 girls were honoured, and nine women who excelled in various fields were recognised for their achievements, as shared by DM Neha Sharma.
