Amid allegations from opposition parties regarding the encounter of Mangesh Yadav, an accused in a robbery case in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar addressed these claims on Monday, firmly denying any bias. He stated that police actions are not influenced by caste. Responding to allegations by the Samajwadi Party that the police are targeting criminals based on caste in their encounters, the DGP, while speaking to reporters at the inauguration of the 73rd All India Police Wrestling Cluster-2024, said: The police do not engage in such practices. I deny all such allegations. The police act with complete impartiality. Mangesh Yadav, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head and was implicated in a robbery at a jewellers shop in Sultanpur last month, was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police on September 5. Regarding the recent attempt to derail the Kalindi Express train in Kanpur, DGP Kumar said, All our senior officers have visited the site, and we are taking the matter very seriously. We will inform the media of any developments as soon as we have concrete information. Asked about the involvement of the Anti-Terrorist Squad at the scene in Kanpur, Kumar responded, We will investigate all aspects thoroughly. It is too early to comment without a full investigation.
