Two UP teachers to receive National Teacher Award

Two teachers from council schools in Pratapgarh and Mirzapur districts have been selected for the prestigious National Teacher Award-2024. On Teachers Day, September 5, they will be honoured at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The selected teachers are Shyam Prakash Maurya from Upper Primary School Malhurpur, Mandhata block, Pratapgarh and Ravikant Dwivedi from Primary School Bhagesar, Mirzapur. It is worth mentioning here that the Union Education Ministry has announced the names of 50 teachers nationwide for this award. Each awardee will receive Rs 50,000 in cash, a silver medal and a certificate of recognition. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has actively encouraged innovative teaching methods in the states education sector. His efforts include promoting online education in council schools and making curricula available through various apps. Besides, teachers who adopt new and creative teaching techniques are recognised and promoted as role models to inspire their peers. Shyam Prakash Maurya, a teacher at Upper Primary School in Malhurpur, Mandhata block, Pratapgarh district, uses PowerPoint presentations and modern technology through projectors to teach council school students in a way that makes learning easy and engaging. In 2022, he established an online group to motivate students across the district to participate in the National Income-Based Examination. As a result, 785 students have been selected for scholarships totaling Rs 3.76 crore. Similarly, Ravikant Dwivedi, the headmaster of Primary School Bhagesar in Mirzapur, gained popularity for his innovative Mathematics Garden. He has introduced various modern technologies, including the Maths Garden and digital classrooms, to provide excellent education to his students. This prestigious award is given to teachers across the country who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and hard work in improving the quality of school education and have enriched their students academic and practical lives with strong moral values.
