Rs 26.84 cr approved for modern equipment at SGPGIMS

The Yogi Adityanath government, in order to enhance healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh, has initiated the process of equipping Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow with cutting-edge machinery and equipment. In line with CM Yogis vision, an allocation of Rs 26.84 crore has been approved for the installation and operation of 280 modern machines across 26 categories for the year 2024-25. This includes a range of advanced equipment such as portable echo machines, high-definition duodenoscopes, high-end ultrasound machines, and a robotic operation theatre. Additionally, the installation of CCTV cameras throughout the campus will be completed, paving the way for providing state-of-the-art health services. The project encompasses the installation of diverse and specialised machinery. In anesthesiology, a transcranial dropper will be installed, while cardiology will be equipped with a portable echo machine. The central research facility (core lab) will receive a spectrophotometer, and the CVTS department will be fitted with a nitric oxide inhalation unit. Emergency services will benefit from an air-way cart, and endocrine surgery will utilise an electrocautery machine. Furthermore, endocrinology will be enhanced with a refrigerated benchtop centrifuge, and gastroenterology will see the addition of a fluorometer for DNA estimation and an HD duodenoscope. The general hospital will be equipped with an anesthesia workstation, a high-pressure suction machine, OT double dome light, and multipara monitors. Similarly, haematology will benefit from a 3D bioprinter, and hepatology will receive a benchtop capillary electrophoresis system with automated nucleic acid extraction capabilities. The installation of a robotic operation theater is also part of this comprehensive upgrade.
