Bahujan Samajwadi Party national president Mayawati, on Wednesday, reacted strongly to the debate between Congress leader and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Anurag Thakur over caste census. The BSP chief also posted on social media that she was in favour of caste census. Mayawati took to social media platform X on Wednesday and said that the ongoing dispute between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party and others in Parliament on Tuesday, especially regarding caste and caste census, was a drama and an attempt to deceive the OBC community, because the history of both the parties regarding their reservation had been fiercely anti-OBC, both openly and behind the scenes. It is not right to trust them. Just like the OBC reservation implemented here in Uttar Pradesh due to the efforts of BSP, the national caste census is a special national issue of public interest, towards which the Centre needs to be serious.  Crores of poor backwards and Bahujans also have a right in the development of the country, in the fulfillment of which caste census plays an important role, she said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, praised the speech of BJP member Anurag Thakur in the Lok Sabha. He said it must be heard. Anurag Thakur, a former Union minister, politically hit back at leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhis address during his speech. Modi said in a post on X, This speech by my young and energetic colleague Anurag Thakur must be heard. A perfect blend of facts and sarcasm, exposes the dirty politics of the INDI Alliance. Thakur hit back at Rahul Gandhi over his speech in the Lok Sabha. The BJP leader referred to alleged scams that took place during Congress governments and critical references made by its leaders in the past about caste-based quota to ask questions to the leader of opposition. On the issue of caste-based enumeration, his question regarding Rahuls caste led to uproar in the Lok Sabha. The leader of opposition called it an insult and said it would not deter him from sticking to his demand for caste-wise census.
