Panic gripped Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus on Wednesday when  two employees were shot at by motorcycle-borne miscreants. Giving this information, officials said that both the employees were admitted to a hospital in critical condition. Sources in police said that AMU employees Mohammad Nadeem and Kaleem were going on a two-wheeler inside the university campus when two assailants on a motorcycle stopped them on the way and shot at them from close range. On hearing the gunshot, the university security patrol team chased the attackers and caught them and handed them over to the police. The sources said that the attackers were being interrogated. The broad daylight firing on the university campus created panic among the students, who rushed to take shelter. AMU Proctor Mohammad Wasim Ali said that the injured employees were being treated at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital. He said that the probe so far pointed out that the incident took place over some old dispute. After getting information about the case, the police reached the spot and further investigation is being done.  It may be mentioned that a case of firing had come to light in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University in September last year also. According to the information, the miscreants were demanding weekly payment from the canteen operator. When the canteen operator refused to pay the weekly payment, the accused opened fire there. This incident took place outside the canteen located near the special ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. As the miscreants fired more than half a dozen rounds, there was chaos on the spot. A woman was injured in that incident. There have been fights and firing earlier also regarding the canteen dispute and Wednesdays incident was also related to the same dispute. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old gang-rape victim allegedly ended her life in Kannauj. It is alleged that the rape victim ended her life due to the inaction of the police. The police, instead of taking action against the accused,  were forcing the victims family to make a compromise with the accused. Reports said that two youths from a neighbouring village had kidnapped the minor girl and gang-raped her. Later, they left her at home after threatening the victim and her family. It is also learnt that the victims father lodged an FIR after the incident came to light. Reports also suggest that the accused threatened the victims family, following which the minor girl ended her life by hanging herself.
