SDM suspended for ignoring farmers plaint

  • | Friday | 5th July, 2024

Ignoring a farmers complaint led to the suspension of the sub-district magistrate (SDM) of Khaga Tehsil in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The SDM was suspended on Tuesday, following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanaths instructions to this effect.  During the suspension period, the SDM will be assigned to the Lucknow office of the commissioner and secretary of the Revenue Council, and departmental action will be initiated against him. Ravikaran Singh, a farmer from the village of Pai in Fatehpur, had submitted a complaint letter regarding a land dispute to SDM Atul Kumar on June 15 during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas. Despite the seriousness of the matter, SDM Atul Kumar allegedly did not address the complaint promptly with seriousness. As the officer failed to resolve the issue facing the farmer, the matter was probed by the Prayagraj divisional commissioner and the inspector general of police, Prayagraj zone. Notably, both officials found SDM Atul Kumar guilty in their investigation reports. Consequently, CM Yogi suspended Kumar.
