5 marks relief for reserved category Lucknow University PhD aspirants

LUCKNOW: Just four days before the declaration of PhD entrance test result, Lucknow University on Monday decided to give a relaxation of 5% marks to SC, ST, OBC and differently-abled candidates in qualifying marks. However, as per the new rule, the qualifying marks for SC, ST, OBC and differently-abled have been reduced to 45%. Earlier, vacant seats were non-transferable," he added. "The change in the entrance test qualifying marks was made following the recent notification by the University Grants Commission on the minimum standards and procedure for award of MPhil and PhD degrees regulation," said LU spokesperson NK Pandey. Moreover, the vacant seats of these candidates will be transferred to next academic year for admission under the same categories.The decisions were taken at the academic council and executive council meetings on Monday.

However, as per the new rule, the qualifying marks for SC, ST, OBC and differently-abled have been reduced to 45%."The change in the entrance test qualifying marks was made following the recent notification by the University Grants Commission on the minimum standards and procedure for award of MPhil and PhD degrees regulation," said LU spokesperson NK Pandey."The notification also directed to transfer seats remaining vacant in SC,ST, OBC and differently-abled categories after admission process is over, to next year for admissions under the same categories. Earlier, vacant seats were non-transferable," he added.
