NCP to rope in 40 star campaigners for Zilla Parishad elections

KOLHAPUR: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be roping in 40 star campaigners to help them win maximum number of seats in the upcoming Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti elections.The NCP district unit is planning to bring campaigners like Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Praful Patel, Dilip Walse-Patil and Dhananjay Munde . This will help us reach out to maximum number of voters," said a senior NCP leader.Other star campaigners include Sunil Tatkare, Madhukar Pichad, Anil Deshmukh, Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awhad, Faujiya Khan and Nawab Malik . To get majority in the 67-seat Kolhapur ZP, a party needs to win 34 seats and the NCP officials are confident that they will attain majority on their own. "We have done the groundwork considering the required number of seats for ZP in Kolhapur.

KOLHAPUR: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be roping in 40 star campaigners to help them win maximum number of seats in the upcoming Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti elections.The NCP district unit is planning to bring campaigners like Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Praful Patel, Dilip Walse-Patil and Dhananjay Munde . These leaders will tour the district in the next few days to address rallies organised by the party.For Kolhapur ZP elections, the NCP has fielded 36 candidates and according to party sources, they are confident of winning all the seats. To get majority in the 67-seat Kolhapur ZP, a party needs to win 34 seats and the NCP officials are confident that they will attain majority on their own."We have done the groundwork considering the required number of seats for ZP in Kolhapur. We have fielded only 36 seats and will concentrate only on these seats during campaigning. The star campaigners will also organise focusing on these seats. This will help us reach out to maximum number of voters," said a senior NCP leader.Other star campaigners include Sunil Tatkare, Madhukar Pichad, Anil Deshmukh, Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awhad, Faujiya Khan and Nawab Malik . "The dates of rallies of these leaders will be announced soon and we are planning to bring all these leaders in Kolhapur district during election campaigning," he added.During the last ZP elections, the NCP was in opposition by winning 18 seats out of the then 69 seats, while Congress was in power with 31 seats. This time after re-organisation of ZP wards, the number of seats has reduced to 67 and all the political parties are eying to win maximum seats to garner a majority.Meanwhile in Nashik, the party has instructed its candidates to focus on door-to-door campaigning to reach out to maximum voters in their areas. The party leaders and MLAs are also busy inaugurating war rooms and guiding candidates on how to win the elections.
