Security beefed up in Rajasthan, border villages on high alert

The administrative sections of Jaisalmer and Barmer have also increased their preparedness in the wake of tensions between India and Pakistan. The intelligence agencies have also issued a standing alert for Jaipur police too.The city police said that they have strengthened the security of VIP locations, Army place, and crowded markets. However, the subsequent investigation revealed that it belonged to an Indian aircraft which had fallen from the plane.

However, the subsequent investigation revealed that it belonged to an Indian aircraft which had fallen from the plane. The administrative sections of Jaisalmer and Barmer have also increased their preparedness in the wake of tensions between India and Pakistan. Important meetings of civil defence in both districts took place on Thursday in which all departments were ordered to keep the reserve ration and fuel. Scout, NCC, home guard volunteers have been asked ready for giving their services while traffic department has been asked to provide the list of all vehicles to the administration. District collectors of Jaisalmer and Barmer called a meeting of civil defence on Thursday morning and made preparations to deal with any emergency situation.The state police had issued an alert to all district SPs to remains alert to all suspicious activities in their areas.DGP Kapil Garg had also met chief minister Ashok Gehlot to inform him about the security preparedness of the state police.The State Special Branch (SSB) of Rajasthan police, meanwhile, is keeping a tight vigil near military locations. The sources informed TOI that Pakistani’s intelligence agencies have for a very long-time been trying to lure and trick local residents of border areas, and junior-rung officials into sharing information with them.“Every single activity in the border areas are being intensively monitored and shared with all security agencies,” said an official.The Rajasthan police have been quizzing all suspicious people in Jodhour, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Sriganganagar, and Bikaner . “People found aimlessly walking near important places are being quizzed,” the official added.Rajasthan shares a 1,048km-long international border with Pakistan, heavily guarded by the BSF, along with a handful of Border Intelligence Outposts (BIOP) of the state police.Section 144 remains imposed in border areas of SriGanganagar district. “There are certain farms which are located very near to the International Border (IB), therefore, farmers were told to remain alert and frontier police stations who have received spoof calls from Pakistan are creating awareness program with local Patwari, Gram Sevaks etc to ensure that they quickly respond all such fake calls to the control room,” the official added.The western frontier of Rajasthan has long been a hotbed of espionage activities, illegal intrusions, cross-border smuggling and spy operations. The intelligence agencies have also issued a standing alert for Jaipur police too.The city police said that they have strengthened the security of VIP locations, Army place, and crowded markets. “The festival of Shivratri is also near, hence, we have directed police stations to stand guard to avert any untoward situation,” the official added.
