66-kv substation inaugurated

Our CorrespondentHoshiarpur, May 12Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora inaugurated a 66-kV substation at Gaushala Bazar, Hoshiarpur, on Saturday. He reached the venue much before the formal inaugural ceremony where Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora had to inaugurate the power substation. Sood inaugurated it by breaking a coconut outside the locked gate. The upgraded substation was to be inaugurated at 10 am by but much before that, at 8.30 am, Sood reached the site with some of his supporters. Another substation was under construction at Mall Road, Hoshiarpur, which would be commissioned this summer.

Our Correspondent Hoshiarpur, May 12 Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora inaugurated a 66-kV substation at Gaushala Bazar, Hoshiarpur, on Saturday. The station shall cater to the demand of electricity of urban commercial and domestic consumers of Hoshiarpur city. Arora said the Punjab Government had spent Rs 8 crore on the substation and a main 132-kV substation was being upgraded to 220 kV by the end of the month. He said two 66-kV substations had been commissioned ie one at circle office, Tanda Road and the second at Gaushala Bazar. Another substation was under construction at Mall Road, Hoshiarpur, which would be commissioned this summer. On the occasion, Deputy chief engineer, PSPCL, HS Saini was also present. Sood’s ‘political stunt’ Rs 8-crore project Meanwhile, Senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood on Saturday jumped into a controversy again. He reached the venue much before the formal inaugural ceremony where Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora had to inaugurate the power substation. Sood inaugurated it by breaking a coconut outside the locked gate. The upgraded substation was to be inaugurated at 10 am by but much before that, at 8.30 am, Sood reached the site with some of his supporters. His supporters congratulated him and all of them walked away in a few moments. Reacting to the development, Arora said the right to inaugurate any government building or project was only with the representatives elected by the people. He said the leader who had been rejected twice by the people of Hoshiarpur should refrain from doing such things for “cheap popularity”.
