GHAZIABAD: A software engineer’s house in a highrise society of Indirapuram was burgled and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 35,000 cash were stolen on Monday when the family had gone to Delhi.Owner of the house Mahesh Gupta works in a private company located in Noida’s Sector 63 while his wife, Deepti Gupta, works as teacher in a private school of Delhi. The couple lives in V3S Indralok in Nyay Khand 1.Mahesh told TOI that he and his wife left the house on Monday around 1 pm to spend the holiday in Delhi and returned home around 8 pm. “When I reached the house, I found the main door of the flat open, and upon entering the bedroom, I saw all the belongings scattered. When my wife checked the valuables, she found that all the jewellery worth of Rs 10 lakh and some cash around Rs 35,000 were missing from the almirah. The robbery took place between 1 pm and 8 pm,” he said.“I called the police and a team soon reached my home. We had also filed a complaint against the robbers but the cops did not register any FIR in the case till we approached senior police officers,” he added.The SHO of Indirapuram police station Sandeep Kumar Singh said that the unknown robbers have been booked under IPC Section 379 (punishment for theft). “Police are checking the CCTV footage of the society and other nearby societies to nab the accused,” he said.
