Police seize liquor worth Rs 16.39 lakh

Police found a cavity made between the driver’s cabin and beneath the trailer in which 5,202 liquor bottles were kept.Police seized the IMFL worth Rs 16.39 lakh along with cellphones of the duo. Police officials said that the duo had brought liquor from Haryana from a person named Raju whose full name they did not know. AHMEDABAD: City police on wee hours of Monday caught a truck loaded with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 16.39 lakh from Sanathal Crossroads near Sarkhej Officials of Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) said that they had made additional police deployment at Sanathal Crossroads following an input that trucks with IMFL will be passing from there. They also told cops that they were supposed to meet a person, whose name they did not know, at a hotel near Sanathal Crossroads for which they were promised a remuneration by Raju. Sarkhej police have lodged a case under the Prohibition Act.

AHMEDABAD: City police on wee hours of Monday caught a truck loaded with Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 16.39 lakh from Sanathal Crossroads near Sarkhej Officials of Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) said that they had made additional police deployment at Sanathal Crossroads following an input that trucks with IMFL will be passing from there. When they saw the truck matching the registration number given by an informer, they stopped it and enquired with its driver and cleaner.After a round of interrogation, the driver, identified as Imrankhan Meu, a native of Faridabad in Haryana, and the cleaner, Mubarik Ali Mohammed Meu, who also hails from Faridabad in Haryana, told the cops that they had stocked liquor in the truck.
