Sad state of Sangameshwarar temple in Bhavani irks devotees

Erode: The Sangameshwarar temple in Bhavani in Erode district, where devotees flock to offer prayers to their ancestors, lack basic amenities. "The temple authorities had put up sign boards cautioning devotees taking a dip in River Cauvery. Raja also assured to erect the sign boards and warning boards at the earliest. They devotees allege that the poor condition is to be blamed on the temple officials who are too lethargic to carry out the required work.The temple is under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and the devotees blame the officials for the present poor condition of the temple.

Erode: The Sangameshwarar temple in Bhavani in Erode district, where devotees flock to offer prayers to their ancestors, lack basic amenities. They devotees allege that the poor condition is to be blamed on the temple officials who are too lethargic to carry out the required work.The temple is under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and the devotees blame the officials for the present poor condition of the temple. "The temple authorities had put up sign boards cautioning devotees taking a dip in River Cauvery. Those boards have been damaged and the temple authorities did not take any step to place a new one," said C Sampath, one of the devotees."We had submitted many petitions with the district administration and the concerned higher officials in Chennai. But there is no response to those petitions yet," said K Gnanasekaran, a local activist. Executive officer of the temple K Raja said that they did not carry out any developmental work due to Sabarimala season."The temple was busy with Ayyappan devotees pouring in in the past 70 days," he said. tnnHe also said that they had sent a detailed proposal to lay pathways with footmats on it. "We will initiate the work once we get fund from the government," he said. Raja also assured to erect the sign boards and warning boards at the earliest.
