BJP leader Goel writes to Vaishnaw seeking regulation or ban on online gambling

  • | Saturday | 23rd November, 2024

Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Goel on Friday wrote to Union Minister of Information and Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding the government to immediately ban or regulate online gambling in view of its increasing addiction among the youth of the country. In the letter, he highlighted the alarming issue of youth being drawn towards destruction through online gaming and expressed concern that children and young people often unknowingly drift into online gambling while engaging in online gaming activities. According to him, the dream of earning immense money with just a single click on a mobile phone is driving the youth into a frenzy. Goel stated that, in many cases, even the parents of the children remain unaware that their child is engaging in gambling rather than gaming. He demanded from Vaishnav that online games should be regulated or banned immediately. Also, by talking to the cricketers and players appearing in their advertisements, they should be stopped from doing such misleading advertisements. So that the safe and bright future of our young generation can be ensured and their energy can be used to make a constructive contribution to the development of the country instead of gambling, he said.
