BJP, Congress lash out at AAP

  • | Wednesday | 6th November, 2024

The Delhi BJP and Congress on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling AAP for failing to do the necessary preparations for the Chhath Puja due to the negligence and inaction of the Chief Minister Atishis government.  Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that it would not be an exaggeration to say that this year Atishis government has shown great negligence in Chhath preparations and is indulging in corruption. The government has played with the faith of Chhath devotees and the entire Purvanchal society, he said. Due to the inaction and negligence of the Kejriwal-Atishi government, on Chhath Puja which started with Nahai Khay today, till this evening, neither the dug ponds have been filled with water nor have the drinking water tankers reached more than 800 temporary Chhath Ghats, Sachdeva alleged. Claiming that the AAP MLAs are openly spreading political corruption, he said, Whether it is on the river bank or at the temporary Ghats, the AAP MLAs have got the work of tents and electricity supply delayed and are pressurizing the Chhath committees to first put up hoardings with photos of Kejriwal-Atishi and the MLA. It is extremely shameful that the ruling MLAs are not giving full support to the Puja arrangements just to get their photos put up, he said. Delhi BJPs Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha said that the Purvanchal community living in the city can clearly see the dark face of the AAP government and will give a befitting reply to its leaders at the right time. Further, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav said that the fact that the Purvanchal devotees will be forced to hold the Chhath Puja festival in the dirty, poisonous waters of Yamuna shows total governance failure by the AAP government. Year after year, Kejriwal and his party promises to provide clean waters for the devotees to hold the festival, including construction of nearly 1000 Chhath ghats, but in the end devotees are compelled to stand in the toxic Yamuna to celebrate the festival, Yadav said. He claimed that the stretch of the Yamuna passing through the Capital is so toxic that people suffer skin rashes and breathing trouble, eye infection and other health problems if they come in contact with the water, but Chief Minister Atishi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders of the AAP seemed to be least bothered about the health of the devotees.
