  • | Friday | 27th September, 2024

A day before the Delhi Universitys Student Union (DUSU) polls, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers participated in a cleanliness drive while National Students Union of India (NSUI) demanded that the administration and the Delhi Police to ensure fair and transparent conduct of the elections on Thursday. A blame game also erupted between the student unions as the ABVP alleged that students were being taken to a party organised by the NSUI where they got injured in road accident. Meanwhile, NSUI claimed that it is a false allegation and they hadnt organised any party. It is ABVPs cheap tactic to defame us. Our manifesto is an answer to their allegations and we follow Lyngdoh committee rules and regulations, the student outfit said in a statement. Earlier, ABVP has alleged that NSUI was luring students of Sister Nivedita College of Delhi University to Mojoland Water Park in Murthal, Haryana for a party on Thursday, when an accident took place on the way in which two students were seriously injured and other students were also injured. The seriously injured students are admitted in a hospital in Dwarka area of Delhi for surgery, they stated. They condemned NSUI for playing with the safety of DU girl students and corrupting the student union elections by using money and power. ABVPs National Minister Shivangi Kharwal said, On Wednesday, NSUI goons forcefully entered Miranda House of Delhi University and then by luring the students of Sister Nivedita College, they took them out of Delhi without the permission of the college administration and the parents of the students, where the students got seriously injured in the accident. Addressing a press conference, Varun Choudhary, president of the Congress-affiliated NSUI alleged that people linked to the ABVP and RSS had been appointed electoral officers for the polls. "Individuals previously associated with the ABVP are now serving as election commissioners that can influence the election results," Choudhary said. To maintain the integrity of the election process, proctors with ties to the RSS should also be barred from election duty, he said. The Congress-backed organisation, however, expressed confidence that it would win this years elections and claimed that the NSUIs vision addressed key issues for students such as fee hikes, infrastructure deficiencies and womens safety. Moreover, ABVP panel appealed to the students to vote 100 percent in the Delhi University Students Union elections to be held on September 27 and stated that it trended on social media. The party expressed its excitement about the elections and stated that it is confident of winning all four seats. Its workers also cleaned the campus by running a cleanliness drive in the North Campus of Delhi University. ABVP National General Secretary Yagyavalkya Shukla said, DUSU elections are a festival for the students of Delhi University. To make this festival a success, we appeal to the students of Delhi University to vote 100 percent.
