DUSU polls: ABVP, NSUI announce candidates

The stage is set for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, with eight candidates contesting for the post of president, five for vice-president, and four each for the posts of joint secretary and secretary in the central panel.  The Office of the Chief Election Officer on Friday released the final list of 21 eligible candidates for the 2024-25 DUSU elections. The ABVP has nominated Rishabh Chaudhary for Presidents post;  Bhanu Pratap Singh for Vice Presidents post;  Mitravinda Karanwal for the post of Secretary and Aman Kapasia for post of Joint- Secretary. Hailing from Sonipats Gannaur, Chaudhary comes from a farming family and has completed his graduation in History and Political Science from Shyam Lal College and pursuing his studies at the Department of Buddhist Studies. Singh is originally from Haryanas Faridabad and has completed his graduation in Psychology (Honors) from Sri Aurobindo College where he was elected as the Secretary of the Student Union. Currently, he is a first-year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Mitravinda hails from Uttar Pradeshs Bijnor and is actively involved in various activities related to womens issues and has a special interest in social service. Currently, she is a third-year student of History (Honors) at Lakshmibai College where she was elected as the Secretary of the Student Union last year. Kapasia is originally from Delhi and completed his graduation in Hindi (Honors) from PGDAV Evening College. A national-level archer, he is pursuing studies at the Department of Buddhist Studies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aman played a role by providing essential services to students stranded in 11 colleges of Delhi University. ABVP National General Secretary Yagywalkua Shukla said, "ABVP-led DUSU has worked continuously in the interest of students over the years, due to which the trust of students towards ABVP has been strengthened. He added that the candidates announced from the ABVP panel have done a lot of work to create a positive educational environment in DU, due to which they have been declared as DUSU candidates from the ABVP panel.
