Explain how Kejriwal running Government from jail: BJP

  • | Thursday | 12th September, 2024

Delhi BJP MLAs, who have demanded dismissal of the AAP government in Delhi, on Wednesday asked state Minister Atishi asking it to explain how Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is running the government from jail and furnish a list of decisions taken by him in the last five months. This comes a day after the senior AAP leader accused the BJP of "conspiring" to topple the Kejriwal government forcing the Presidents rule in Delhi. The memorandum was subsequently forwarded by the Presidents secretariat to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for "proper attention". In a joint press conference, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta posed 10 questions to the AAP and demanded it to furnish a list of decisions taken by Kejriwal from the jail. How many government decisions were made by Kejriwal while in jail, and how many cabinet meetings were held during this period? Why has the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA), chaired by Kejriwal, has not held a single meeting in the past eight months, leaving crucial decisions regarding senior administrative officers pending, he asked. He alleged deliberate delay in not forming the sixth Delhi Finance Commission and asked why the AAP government is postponing the election for the MCDs standing committee. Why 11 reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) have not been presented in the assembly? he questioned. The LoP claimed that on March 15, the Chief Secretary submitted a detailed report on financial irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board to Water Minister Atishi. Why Atishi keep this report to herself instead of presenting it in the assembly and questioning her intentions in suppressing the report? he stated. He accused the AAP of not implementing the central governments Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Delhi. Under the PM-ABHIM scheme, the central government provided Rs 2,406 crore to the Delhi government for the creation of modern labs and ICU centers, he said, questioning the Delhi government for not utilising this fund and demanded an explanation. Gupta said that if the AAP fails to reply to the 10 questions, it will be clear that the ruling party has no answers to the "constitutional crisis" and "violations of Constitution" and its government is "guilty". Kejriwal is in judicial custody at the Tihar Jail since his arrest on March 21 in the excise policy case. The AAP had earlier asserted that Kejriwal would not resign from the chief ministers post and run the government from jail.
