LG directs revamp of Indian Red Cross Seemapuri hospital

  • | Monday | 22nd July, 2024

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday directed for the complete revamp of the hospital run by the Indian Red Cross Society in the Seemapuri area located opposite Dilshad Garden Metro Station in East Delhi. The LG gave the officials accompanying him a deadline of six months for achieving a total facelift of the hospital, which is lacking modern equipment and is marred by manpower shortage. Saxena asked the senior doctors and concerned officials present on the spot during his inspection to expeditiously prepare a roadmap for developing the facilities in the hospital, which was functioning with skeletal staff and doctors, in the absence of a Medical officer for the past six months. He specifically directed that a thorough assessment be made about the requirements of doctors, staff, equipment, and facilities that are required to be made available in the hospitals according to the guidelines of the central government. Further, Saxena also visited and inspected the building provided by the Delhi Development Authority to the Red Cross Society in Dilshad Garden, which was in a dilapidated condition and was lying unused for years. He expressed dissatisfaction over the status of the building and instructed officials to devise a revamping and restoration plan. He also stopped at the Henry Dunant Public School in D-Block run by the Red Cross Society and assured the staff and management of full cooperation in upgrading the facilities with smart boards and other amenities. The school at present is imparting education to students from economically weaker sections (ews) from Nursery to Class 8. He inspected the main office of the Delhi Chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society at Golf Links while derecting officials to renovate the iconic building, dedicated to society in 1962, without disturbing its architectural aesthetics within a deadline of two months.
