Minor girl forced into prostitution rescued by police, NGO

The Delhi Police, along with Manobal NGO, rescued a 14 year old orphan girl from working in a brothel at Delhis Ajmeri Gate. According to the police on Tuesday, the victim is an orphan hailing from Uttar Pradeshs Bijnor district who had come to Delhi in search of work. Due to the circumstances, she got lured into sex trade at a minor age. The Delhi police has also made an arrest in the matter. DCP Central M. HARSHA VARDHAN stated, On July 12, at about 08:30 pm, an information was received through secret informer that in Shradhanand Marg, Ajmeri Gate, Delhi a minor aged about 14 years is compelled to work in a brothel house, and that if a rescue operation be carried out, she may be rescued. He added that after receiving the information, the police, along with Manobal NGO, reached the spot and found that one minor girl age about 14 years was in the custody of a woman namely 42 year old Anjali, alias Meena. The minor was immediately rescued from her custody and taken to shelter. During rescue, NGO Counsellor conducted proper counselling and it was revealed that about three to four days earlier she was brought to the Kotha by one Anas from Zakir Nagar in Okhla, Delhi and she was handed over to Anjali, the DCP added After counselling, the medical examination of victim was got conducted at Lok Nayak (LNJP) hospital on July 13 and her statement was recorded. The DCP stated that a case under the provisions of the Bonded Labour System (BNS) ACt,Immorl Traffic (Prevention) ITP Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Police station Kamla Market.  During the course of investigation, statement of victim has been recorded by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and accused Anjali has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. All Women PP SN Marg, ably supported by PS Kamla Market, located in this very sensitive area has been able to successfully keep a watch over the area to ensure that no minor or unwilling person is kept in the red-light area, the DCP stated.
