Mayor, Transport Minister inspect Najafgarh Assembly constituency

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot on Thursday inspected Najafgarh Assembly constituency area to take stock of the cleanliness system and civic amenities. During the inspection, the mayor did not find the cleanliness in the area satisfactory and directed the officials to clean the street drains regularly to avoid waterlogging in the area. Oberoi also interacted with the local residents and heard their problems. Informing the mayor about the requirements of more sanitation workers in the area to improve the sanitation system, the residents urged the mayor to strengthen the sanitation system of the area. While talking to the local people, she said, I am the Mayor of the whole Delhi, so no matter which political party the councillors belong to, I will not discriminate in any way regarding cleanliness of the area.She urged the residents to inform her of any problem related to cleanliness or civic amenities and assured that she will solve it as soon as possible. Due to lack of cleaning near Surakhpur drain, waterlogging was happening. To solve the problem of waterlogging in the area, MCD has installed a temporary pump near Surakhpur drain. Also, debris has been spread on the road so that there is no waterlogging and pedestrians do not face problems in movement, she said. Oberoi assured the citizens that she will issue strict directions to the senior officials to ensure regular cleaning in Najafgarh area. She is very serious about the cleanliness of the city and any kind of laxity in the cleanliness work will not be tolerated, the mayor said, adding that she has visited different areas and reviewed the sanitation system and other civic amenities. My aim is to make Delhi clean and garbage free, she said. During the inspection, the Mayor visited many areas including Mitraon village, Gopalnagar and Surakhpur. Deputy Commissioner of Najafgarh Zone Badal Kumar and other senior officers of MCD were also present during the inspection.
