The national Capital received light to moderate rains while the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.2 degrees celsius, 3.4 degrees below the normal. However, the humidity levels remained high making the weather muggy and uncomfortable. The humidity was 85 per cent at 8.30 am and 75 per cent at 5:30 pm. The feel like temperature or the heat index, which is affected by both humidity and wind, and conveys how warm or cold it feels stood was 41.6 degrees celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal. The IMD reported that 0.6 mm of rain was recorded at Safdarjung, the citys primary weather station, 0.6 mm at Lodhi Road, 2.1 mm at Aaya Nagar, and 0.2 mm at Palam, 0.5 mm at Jafarpur, 2.7 mm at Ridge and 2 mm at Salwan Public School between 8.30 am on July 4 and 8.30 am on July 5. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. The IMD has further predicted such weather till July 11. Jafarpur recorded 33.8 degrees celsius as maximum temperature, Najafgarh at 33.5 degrees, Aya nagar at 32.5 degrees, Lodi road at 32.2 degrees, Palam at 32.4 degrees, Ridge at 32.3 degrees, Pitampura at 34.5 degrees, Pusa at 32.1 degrees and Salwan Public School at 30.6 degrees. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was in the "satisfactory" category with a reading of 77 at 4 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
