Delhi: Snatcher's luck runs out in police stn

Both the complainants had given the same description of the motorcycle.To solve the mystery, both were called to the police station. Sharma called the cops, who seized the bike. Sharma immediately identified the second complainant, a 16-year-old, as the person who had snatched his phone.

NEW DELHI: "Hello, my mobile phone has been snatched. They are on a white motorcycle," said Yogesh Sharma after dialling 100 seconds after being held at knifepoint in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur.As a team was directed to that area, another PCR call came to Jyoti Nagar police station . This time, the caller reported that his white motorcycle had been stolen. Both the complainants had given the same description of the motorcycle.To solve the mystery, both were called to the police station. Sharma immediately identified the second complainant, a 16-year-old, as the person who had snatched his phone. The youth initially said that his bike was snatched at gunpoint and someone must have used it to commit the crime. However, he soon confessed to the crime and handed over the snatched phone.DCP (northeast) Atul Thakur said the youth has been sent for counselling. The incident occurred on Saturday when Sharma was walking to a bus stand. Two youths on a bike stopped him and snatched his phone.The snatchers sped off, but got stuck in a traffic jam on a flyover. When the bikers saw Sharma running after them, they abandoned the bike and fled on foot. Sharma called the cops, who seized the bike. The youth soon realised that the cops would come calling as the bike was registered in his father's name. He then called the PCR to report that his bike had been stolen.
