The workers will get their dues soon.”Dheeraj Bharti, secretary, Dehradun nigam’s sanitation workers’ union told TOI, “We are happy that the government has paid heed to our demand and promised swift action. We have decided to call off the strike and resume work.”The civic body has been grappling with a series of issues this month, including a week-long strike by contractual sanitation workers followed by a huge fire at the trenching ground.Meanwhile the residents heaved a sigh of relief as civic services like garbage collection, tax collection etc were back on track.Satyendra Kashyap, a resident of Subhash Nagar, said, “The government order should not have been delayed in the first place. It is good that the government has finally taken action. The city had turned into filth in just two days of no garbage collection.
