Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday led the swearing-in ceremony of 422 newly-elected panches from various villages in Sangrur district. The event was part of a state-wide initiative, where nearly 6,000 panches took the oath across multiple locations. Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Cabinet Ministers also administered the oath in their respective districts.   Mann urged the panches to transform their villages into modern hubs of development. At the same time, he assured them that the State Government would ensure no lack of funds for any development project they proposed.   Prioritize the development of your villages. Submit proposals for necessary projects, and we will ensure financial support, said Mann, emphasizing that the success of Punjab lies in the progress of its rural areas. He further added that Panchayats should pass resolutions for holistic development, which will be backed by government funding.   Mann highlighted the importance of Panchayats in the democratic system, noting that they form the backbone of governance. In his call for cleaner, greener villages, CM Mann encouraged the Panches to initiate tree plantation drives and hold regular Gram Sabhas for transparent decision-making. He promised government support for infrastructure projects like solar lights and school libraries, which he sees as key to empowering the youth and fostering economic growth.
